For those who haven’t heard earlier about this great musician – it’s time to discover his work.

Short bio: To begin with, who is Manjul? Manjul is a French reggae / dub-multi instrumentationist born in Paris in 1976. When he was seven years old he began playing violin and at 14 he devoted himself to the Rastafarianism – attracted by its music and culture. A little later, he met a Mahoran musician, Baco Mourchid, who had his own studio. In the beginning, Manjul often visited the studio where he observed, listened and learned from both musicians and sound engineers. At some point, Baco becomes ill, being unable to move forward with the music business he sells some of the equipment to Manjul.

Manjul then decides to leave France and moves to Africa, a continent that has always attracted him, as part of his origins come from Africa. He moves to Mayotte where he forms a band called “Humble Ark Band” along with his wife. But due to poor conditions, without electricity, traffic –he was forced to leave Mayotte shortly after his son was born. He and his family settle for Reunion Island, where his friend Baco welcomed him and at this point his bright career begins.

First, he starts producing and arranging music for some of the reggae icons such as: TIKEN JAH FAKOLY, AMADOU & MARIAM, SUGAR MINOTT, AFRICAN BROTHERS, DANAKIL, TOUMANI DIABATÉ, NATTY JEAN, or TAKANA ZION …

Baco Records: Baco Records recently published three albums of Manjul. These sessions or compilations are inspired by African traditional music from Mali, roots reggae and dub. Each of these albums, and especially the last one, are both produced and played on the top notch level. Manjul finally found time to materialize his talent into work by his own visions. On our daily rotational music, you’ll be able to hear songs from the last album such as “Oh Mali”, “Where is Manjul”, “Politricks”…
