Because of Skelly’s lyrics, I said I need to sit down and write a review of what Harrison Stafford started this year. Because I was enlightened by those verses.
Harrison gathered the greatest living legends and brought them closer to our hearts once again. The new “One Rock” album features the greatest reggae music legends of all time, Israel Vibration, The Abyssinians, and The Congos.
Now, at this moment, it is a crossroad in the world. Where the past and the present mix and when the wheel turns. In one of the interviews I listened to Max Romeo in one of his earlier interviews, he said that times had not changed much since the seventies. The topics he sang about (and still sings) are still relevant.
That’s why the roots of the Reggae come to the fore. The Roots of Reggae is the music of the past and the future because it carries the message coming from the commoner, troubles, and the challenges we face.
So the lyrics are from the song “Original Riddim,” which is part of Groundation’s new album “One Rock.” Music has the stamp of Harrison and what he does, fast, energetic, precise, accurate. Excellently played and sung.
But when legends have a say, the music calms down and leaves room for the magnificent vocals of Israel Vibration and Abyssinians.
There is nothing to talk about and explain. Just listen.
With “Original Riddim,” Harrison announced a new album in January, continued with “Human Race” in February, and the song “One Rock” with the Congos was released three days ago.
The Congos are always sympathetic with their musical flexibility, so “One Rock” has all harmonious colors. From guitar solo to Congo’s vocal magic.
All this is valuable because all these top musicians keep their recognizable style. They did not bend to the demands of the commercial music market.
“One Rock” will be released on May 13 under the record label “Baco Music” and “Easy Star Records,” while Groundation will have a series of concerts in 2022 across Europe, South, and North America.
We thank “Run It” agency, which relentlessly supplies us with music of the highest quality, as well as Baco Records, which is our long-term partner.
